237 horsepower of turbocharged versatility.
The Lancer Sportback is coming soon.

The latest addition to the Lancer Family was unveiled for the first time in the U.S. at the Chicago International Auto Show in February.

For those in attendance in Chicago—including the press—the response was overwhelmingly positive.

Now, the wait is nearly over. Because this fall, Sportback is poised to hit Mitsubishi dealerships from coast-to-coast.

Combining the driving fun and progressive design of Lancer with the flexibility of a 5 door, Sportback has all the features and utility to fuel even the most active lifestyles. Its dynamic shape is instantly recognizable as a Lancer from the front with its signature, shark nose grille. But it is the completely fresh design from the C-pillar to the bumper—with a sleekly sloping rear door, integrated "roof wing" and wrap around tail lamp—that creates Sportback's electrifying new look.

Sportback will be available in two versions: the economical, Sport-Tuned 168HP GTS with dual height adjustable cargo floor, and the All-Wheel Control performance-tuned 237HP, turbocharged Ralliart. Both models come standard with magnesium paddle shifters, fuel-efficient MIVEC engines, and one-touch remote 60/40 split rear folding seats to maximize cargo capacity, among a long list of standard technology and comfort features. Available features include the powerful 710W (max) Rockford Fosgate Audio System, 40GB HDD navigation with integrated music server and Thule® integrated sportracks.

With performance inspired by its rally-racing heritage and aggressive styling that embodies the DNA of Lancer Evolution, Sportback is a Mitsubishi through-and-through. And yet, with its new shape and higher level of utility, it's different than any other ever made. So get ready. Because this fall, Lancer Sportback is ready to completely change the way drivers think about utility.

Outlander GT Prototype makes quite an impression at the NY Auto Show.

The world debut of the Outlander GT Prototype on April 9, 2009 at the NY Auto Show generated some serious buzz among the automotive press and enthusiasts alike.

Inspired by the Lancer Evolution's "jet fighter" look and featuring the aggressive shark-nose front, the design of the GT is a radical departure from any other CUV on the road. But Outlander GT's design is just the beginning of the story, as the prototype also incorporates a number of significant upgrades in the areas of performance, technology, driver comfort and fuel economy.

The Outlander GT Prototype benefits from improvements to the all-aluminum 3.0-liter SOHC MIVEC V6 currently found in the Outlander XLS, raising maximum output by 10 horsepower, for a total of 230 horsepower, with improved torque for more responsive city driving, enhanced fuel economy and fewer emissions.

To further fuel economy even more, the GT features a re-calibrated 6 speed automatic transmission with Idle Neutral Logic, which seamlessly shifts into neutral during vehicle standstill for improved MPG. Also, handling and braking performance is also notably improved via a sport-tuned suspension, 19-inch OZ Racing wheels and high-performance Brembo brakes.

The Outlander GT Prototype also comes stocked with the latest technology, like an all-new FUSE Handsfree Media Gateway system that combines advanced voice-recognition capabilities with Bluetooth 2.0-enabled hands-free calling and voice-activated control of your iPod®* when docked with the new USB input.

The GT navigation also features premium RDS real time traffic, a more powerful Rockford Fosgate in-car entertainment system and a Total Security Alarm System, which utilizes an accurate ultrasonic wave motion sensor for improved security and detection.

"The Outlander GT Prototype is packed with technology, performance and premium features that are uncommon in the compact SUV class," commented John Koenig, executive vice president of Mitsubishi Motors North America. "Along with its faster heartbeat, we also wanted to quicken pulses by channeling the look of our sportiest cars."
